Maple keys

Hello! I am back from my holidays and back at work. I went in today and there were only 5 of us in and it was so very quiet. Too quiet so the day just dragged and dragged. Luckily it's Friday so it's not like I have to go in again tomorrow.

Christmas was pretty low key this year. I don't talk about personal stuff much on here so I haven't mentioned on the blog that my husband and I separated four months ago at my request. It hasn't been an easy transition since we were together for 17 years but I'm feeling happier. I think you can see it in my photos taken since September.

T-shirt: Smoking Lily Hama Hama Top (bought in Ottawa earlier this year)
Skirt: Smoking Lily (gift from my mother)
Shoes: Fluevog Truths | Marina (no longer available)

My mother bought me this skirt and the maple key design is an almost perfect match in colour to the t-shirt.

Looking at these pictures I'm very patterned today with the octopus on the shirt, the print on the skirt and my tattoos....

....but from the back, it's a blank slate. No patterns, no prints, no tats.

I've only worn these shoes a few times, and never to work. I like their pointy toes which appeal to the 1980s girl in me.

My sister gave me this bracelet for Christmas. It's Manet's  "Rendevous of cats".

I think my family knows me well.

  1. sorry to hear about your relationship, I can assure you that it does get better and easier though, I'm so much happier now than I was back then it's hard to compare!

Hope you had a great Christmas and Happy New Year!

  2. I'm glad you're feeling happier - I was wondering how the holidays were going for you. Love that maple key skirt - I saw them in the store yesterday. All the patterns are wonderful!

    Love the pointy 80s toes!

  3. Looking sultry, Ms Megan! I think you made some tough decisions this year, but life goes on and you have seemed better for it. I hope the new year brings you new happiness and joy.

Those boots look a lot cooler on than they do in the sample shots. They're a style of shoe that needs feet to look right!

  4. You have definitely seemed happier - the end of a long term relationship is so hard, regardless of who makes the decision, or what the circumstances. Good for you for having the courage to go it on your own.

I love the shade of blue in the top and the print on the skirt. A friend of mine is a big fan of Smokin' Lily and she said they are having a sale right now.

  7. Tough though breaking up must be, it does seem that you are happier and lighter somehow (psychologically speaking, I mean!) so I guess that shows it was the right decision for you, Megan.
Loving the blue and black, and the boots, and that bracelet is fabulous. xxx

  9. I agree with what the others have said, I noticed something had changed, but you do seem like you're in a better place and that is what matters! Here's to 2013 being a better year!

And you look great here. Welcome back.

  10. Welcome back, and Happy New Year to you in every way, Megan! You clearly have no shortage of courage, plus you're looking fabulous, I especially love the maple keys print and your awesome shoes. I lusted after the Marinas online but didn't get a chance to try them on, which would have made the difference as Megan Mae notes. Glad to hear you had a well-loved-by-family holiday!

  15. Hi Megan,
I am a new reader, so pardon the late comment. I broke up with my husband of 22 years, 10 years ago, and my life just keeps getting better and better. I wish you much happiness; we all deserve that! ( and I love this outfit!)
