42, the Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything

I haven't been blogging because I've been socializing and getting older.

On the night of May 14th, I went out to a concert - the Airborne Toxic Event. I'm sure you've all heard of them but in case you haven't here's a video of their song All I Ever Wanted.

So the outfit I wore to work was possibly more appropriate for a ROCK AND ROLL concert!

Dress: Emily Ryan (last worn here)
Shoes: Messeca (last worn the same day)

The necklace was a gift from my sister for my birthday which is from Missy Industry. It has a razor blade, bone, chain, and pill capsule on it.

I'm not sure I like this mullet type dress much anymore. Maybe I could get it shortened to one length at some point.

My BIRTHDAY! I turned 42. WHOOOT!  So I got a bit dressed up!  And it was also Fluevog Day so I went to the Queen Street store with a coworker and bought the shoes I'm wearing in this photo.

Blouse: from Winners
Dress: Jonathan Martin (last worn here)
Shoes: Fluevog Bellevues | Laura Evans

I've never really been interested in these shoes before but when I went to the store, they seemed to be a good choice because they matched my outfit.

I bought this body chain from a store pretty close to my apartment called Armed. I really like the detail on the back. Like pearls.

M birthday dinner was at a restaurant called The Saint and I had a few cocktails. Yum yum!

  1. Happy Birthday! Did Fluevog know that when they started Fluevog day?

The cutouts on the first dress look like a collar from a distance. I'd love to see a close-up of that necklace - sounds perfect for a birthday gift!

  3. The body chain, I just love that! Plus everything else...
I never got into the high-low or mullet style but I do like your dress, and the fact that you can dress rock and roll at work. Outstanding.
Happy birthday, and great shoe celebration.

  4. Oooh lovely Fluevogs. I love the Bellevue family, I wished mine hadn't bothered my knees so much, they are a great heel height. But I did get the vintage vogs in the mail - I agree with your guess of 25 years on them. They have a vintage feel to them. They need some serious TLC, but hopefully I can get them in shape and have two badass pairs of Fluevogs for special occasions. Just need to take them to my shoe guy.

  5. That is a stellar birthday outfit - you have a 20's look going on with the shape of the dress and t-strap shoes. Sounds like you celebrated in style - I hadn't heard of the Airborne Toxic Event (I am completely out of the loop on bands these days) but I really liked the song they do in the video, so I'm sure I would have enjoyed them.

  6. I wondered if you'd get some shoes on your birthday. Very glad. These are lovely and totally work the outfit. Concert sounds good always.

I like the dress length, but if you're tired of it easy enough to straighten out professionally.

  7. I love the Bellevilles shoes line - they are divinely comfortable. Happy Birthday! Love your dress, body chain.

In the concert outfit, I really like the cutouts on the dress. I'm kind over the mullet thing, but I'm sure you can figure out something.
