Gaultier does Degas

I got home from work, feeling a little stressed, and was happy to have a package from Sheila with the fabulous lime green pants, a very cool ring, and a comic book made by her friend. Thanks S! Perfect timing. You're awesome!

Here's the skirt that I gave a sneak peek to earlier last week.

Jacket: Lilith
Shirt: Joe Fresh
Skirt: Jean-Paul Gaultier (thrifted)
Shoes: Messeca (from Capezio in Toronto)

Business on top, party on the bottom!

I love Lilith's clothing and I got this jacket on eBay for $51.00. That's an insane price. And I thrifted this skirt!  Who could possibly have given it up?

The skirt is so pretty - ballet dancers! I used to take ballet lessons and had dreams of trying out for the Royal Winnipeg Ballet but that was never going to become reality.

I finally saw a ballet, La Sylphide, in Washington DC in 2009 and it was amazing. Brought tears to my eyes because it was so beautiful.

Here's the back so you can see stripes going in different directions.

I bought these shoes in Toronto last weekend from Capezio. They are a brand that I'd never heard of before but I was drawn to the pointy toe, straps, velvet fabric and the unique piece on the heel.

Today my coworker said that these were less extravagant than my usual shoes. I think they are pretty funky myself.

Pointy!

  3. Oooh this is one of my favorite outfits you've worn. I adore the skirt (really looked forward to it's premier!). The print is gorgeous. I'm jealous of you for thrifting it!

I think the shoes are plenty funky. Straps, velvet and the great little heel detail.

  5. I love the contrast between the pinstripe business top half and the colourful dancing Degas bottom, and your feet look quite the ballerina in those shoes (and the positioning, a hint of your dancing past, Megan!) xxx

  6. Every piece of this outfit is just amazing, and together - spectacular! I know intimately those early dancer-dreams you mention, and Capezio was originally a maker of dance shoes. I love your second photo the mostest. :)

  8. I am totally in love with that skirt - what an incredible thrift find!! Nice contrast with the striped jacket. I too used to harbour dreams of being a dancer and remember looking at the shoes in the Capezio store in Toronto. I don't believe you really have bunions because you certainly don't look like it in those shoes!

  10. Gosh, that skirt is beautiful. The way it is cut /draped is a little Japanese, almost like your dress yesterday. I also admire good toe cleavage on a lady! (wink wink)
