Post Halloween skulls

November 1st. How did that happen. And this weekend we change the clocks so I'll be coming home from work in the dark. Such a depressing time of the year, especially for those of us with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). What's a good remedy? Fabulousness!

Cardigan: Knit by ME!
Dress: Dorothy Parker (last worn here)
Shoes: J. Crew

I knit this sweater a few years ago. The yarn is black but with pink and orange flecks in it. It's quite pretty ackshully.

Short dress! I thought I'd be uncomfortable wearing this with just tights rather than leggings like last time, but I didn't.

I really only wore this so I could wear these shoes. From J. Crew! J. Crew! It's not a store that I would normally shop at but I saw these shoes and did a double take.

GHA!  They're pinkish but I don't care! They were too gorgeous to get hung up about a silly thing like the colour.

They were way to expensive but I was told they were 30% off so I decided to splurge. And at the cash I found out that they were on sale on the website so I got that discount and an additional 30%! I should have bought 2 pairs.

They are surprisingly comfortable too.

And without the cardigan.

Oh, and I followed up with Fluevog about the boots I wore on Tuesday. They said they looked like the Swordfish Granny Boot. They also added this:  "They seem quite legit, with the exception of the brown plaid sides. We can't find any record of a boot with sides like that. It's possible they were a sample, or a very small run that we didn't take pictures of. Either way, they are awesome!"

Whoot! Score!

  1. You have a knack for finding perfect shoe and dress combinations. I still adore the print on that dress, very McQueen.

For my SAD, I try to get out in the sun as much as possible (about 15 minutes a day) or if I have to be indoors, keep on bright lights until about an hour or so before bed time. My inlaws/DH hate it but if I don't have enough light in general I get twitchy. I also really watch my diet, keeping as healthy and hearty as possible. Keep your Vitamin D/Calcium up.

  2. Your shoes always make my day. Very sexy you are in your short dress and tights. I'm totally impressed with your cardi.

For my SAD, I take a two-hour nap every night when I get home. Unfortunately, this is true.

  3. I was hoping you'd wear that dress around Hallowe'en! Love your knit sweater - wow!

I also nap, like Lynne. I also try to get outside during the day (run errands on my lunch) if it's sunny, just to get some light!

  4. That's so cool that you heard back from the Fluevog people. You have a RARE pair. Ooo. Double good. I like your new shoes too. Those pink skulls are quite unexpected and welcome! You look good in the short style.

  7. Those shoes are fantastic!! I would have done a double take too!!

I agree with what Megan said about SAD. The other thing that helps me is pumping up all my favorite tunes super loud in the car on my drive home. It perks things up just a little bit.

  8. I love that dress, and you have the legs for a short skirt so why not show 'em off, especially when they always end with such fab shoes! The time change always messes me up and I suffer from SAD during the winter months - don't mind the cold so much as the lack of sunlight!

  11. Oh this dress is so lovely! I wouldn't have guessed that you are over 40 because you look so young and pretty but I am always glad to find cute ladies older than teenagers presenting their amazing style. Your haircut is very cool too! Love, Sara xx
