Sometime in August

My camera battery died so the date setting on my camera labeled this as 2010/01/01. I can assure you I did not go back in time so this was taken sometime in August.

Dress: Kate Spade Saturday from Gilt.com
Shoes: Miss L Fire (last worn here I think)

My necklaces are by Missy Industry.

These shoes don't totally match but I hadn't worn then in a while so there you go.

Wrinkly bum!  I really should take these photos at the beginning of my day though I walk 45 minutes to work each day so I probably arrive at the office a little rumpled.

Look! I'm standing in a non-Megan pose!

I just spent the last 3 days in bed with a cold/lung infection. Thankfully I'm on the mend.

Could I BE wearing any more colour?

Sorry for the crappy cell phone picture but I forgot my camera and I felt that this outfit was worthy of posting on Patti's Visible Monday page.

Then I realized it was Tuesday. Then I noticed that Visible Monday is on its off week. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Happy Accident

Here's two outfits that I wore last month.  The first is a dress that I bought on eShakti.com which has recently decided to stop shipping to Canada (again). *sigh*

June 18

Dress: eShakti
Shoes: Fluevog Expectation | Motive (now on sale!)

As someone who isn't usually drawn to florals I seem to have bought a lot of shoes and clothes with flowery motifs. Like the booties I bought for my birthday.

This picture shows that the bottom of the dress is embroidered with a scalloped pattern.

And my button and necklace were of a similar theme. Apropos for moi?

June 19

This is the "happy accident" to which I'm referring in the subject.

I bought this dress at Meg not knowing that I would match some older Fluevogs that I have owned for about 5 years.

Dress: Megshops "babydoll" dress
Shoes: Fluevog Blind Faith Mid | Drew (last worn here)

My penultimate boss was all "oh Megan, your shoes match your dress perfectly" and she wouldn't believe me when I told her that it was just a happy coincidence!

I love you, Plaid Pocket

Ok, I may have bought this dress because of the pocket on the front. I wish it also had side pockets but this will do.

Dress: Kate Spade Saturday from MyHabit.com
Necklace: Coal Miner's Daughter
Tights: from the Blue Banana in Kensington Market
Shoes: Miss L Fire (last worn here)

I bought these leggings last weekend when I was wandering around in Kensington Market with the Forest City Fashionista. She's so cool. I'm glad I got to spend some time catching up with her while she was in the big city.

I seem to be addicted to leggings right now.

When I bought these shoes I thought they'd only work with a small number of outfits but they are proving to be quite versatile. Miss L Fire may be my second favourite brand of shoes!

I'm off to visit family for the weekend and Father's Day. I can't believe June is already half over.

400!

This is my 400th post. I waited until I had a few cute outfits to post rather than having my 400th post being me wearing jeans and a tunic/dress.

May 30

Dress: Vera Wang/Simply Vera (last worn here)
Jeans: All Saints (last worn here)
Shoes: Tn_29 (last worn here)

See - kinda boring. Though this dress will forever be known as my Duran Duran dress.

This was also the day before I got my hair done at a new place.

June 2

Dress: Fresh Collective (last worn here)
Shoes: Fluevog Prepare | Guides (last worn here)

This is a better dress for post 400.

Crazy cat lady dress!

You can't really tell here but my hair is much redder and the colour isn't fading like it has from the other place I've been going. I had to go quite far afield to get there but it was the salon experience I was looking for.

June 5

Cardigan: H&M
Dress: Modcloth (last worn here)
Shoes: Fluevog Pin-ups | Miss April (last worn here)

This is my drinking dress!

Cocktails! WHooo!

Happy weekend everyone.

The past is just a bridge that we burnt down behind us when we left this town

The title of this post is from a great song by a Toronto band, Wildlife. It kinda describes how I feel about my recent past.

This band opened for White Lies when I saw them in February and I hope to see them again soon. Their drummer is the most enthusiastic musician I've ever seen. My friend who went to the concert with me, right a the beginning of their set said "That guy better pace himself! He'll be exhausted by the second song."  Fortunately he wasn't.

Anywhoodle, on to the outfit post.

This might even be a rerun.

Dress: eShakti (last worn here)
Necklace: from Coal Miner's Daughter (last worn here)
Shoes: Miss L Fire (last worn here)

Back to leggings again today since it's a bit cool again today after two days in the high 20s.

Not sure why I'm bothering to post this since it's just a black line. Maybe to show off my convertible bra from Victoria's Secret?

After work today I had an appointment for a CT scan of my head at the hospital near the Eaton Centre so I went to the mall to kill time. I think a part of my soul died. What a lot of wank they sell there. Ugh!

Might be headed for my third sinus surgery. I'll discuss it with my ENT next month. Double UGH.

Bohemian like you

I bought a blouse at a pop-up shop on Queen Street on Sunday so of course I had to wear it on Monday.

Blouse: Fitzroy Boutique pop-up shop
Skirt: Trapper Jane (last worn here)
Shoes: Fluevog Writes | Simone (last worn here though I'm sure I've worn them since last January)

First of all, I don't wear separates very often so wearing a skirt and blouse is different for me. Secondly, this is quite flowery, also not a typical choice for me.

That being said, I recently bought those flowery boots and flats from Fluevog. Maybe my style is evolving? Am I becoming girly in my early-mid-40s?

It's also quite sheer and flowy (if that's a word).

And a HI to the funky woman who stopped me at Queen and Spadina to tell me she likes my blog. *waves*

Red and Gold

These photos are from May 22. I tried to take the photos in my usual space in the kitchen but every time I tried to take them someone was in there! WTF?

So these were taken in Boardroom A.

Dress: Desigual (last worn here)
Shoes: Noa Noa (last worn here)

I haven't worn these shoes in 2 years? What is wrong with me?  I know I'm a fan of Fluevog but I own a lot of nice shoes of other brands which I should wear more often. I do love the t-straps.

The one thing I dislike about this dress is the big DESIGUAL logo on the back but I do love the patterns on the skirt.

Dots and Skulls

Yesterday was a holiday in Canada, Victoria Day. Thank you Queen Victoria for giving me a day off work!

On the long weekend I went to a craft show in the Distillery District and I bought this little pinafore.

Dress: Emily Ryan (last worn here)
Scarf: Alexander McQueen (last worn here)
Pinafore: Atelier du Presbytère from Montreal
Tights: Hue (last worn here)
Shoes: Fluevog Prepares | Guide (last worn here)

I actually wore these shoes YESTERDAY too. What's wrong with me??

I want one of these pinafores for every day of the week!

What I like it is that it will be a good layering piece during the summer...

and it has this pocket which is great for my security pass and kleenex and the like.

and it has this little secret...

An Exclamation Point on the underside of the pocket!

(and I'm wearing my mouse ring which I recently reacquired because apparently I left it behind in Halifax.)

Birthday Party outfit

Though my birthday was on Thursday, I hosted a party at The Ballroom on Friday night. I had a blast and I hope my friends did too. Yesterday was a bit difficult as I struggled with a bit of a hangover. I'm feeling much better today.  Like Detective Murtaugh, I'm getting too old for this shit.

Here's what I wore with my new birthday boots.

Dress: Dorothy Perkins (last worn here)
Jeans: All Saints
Shoes: Fluevog Daily Miracles | Stunner

I'm wearing lacy socks in homage to Pretty In Pink or possibly the ZZ Top video for Legs.

Back is nothing special but the boooooots.

It's love.

Happy birthday to me! (yesterday)

Yesterday was my birthday, and coincidentally it was also International Fluevog Day! Double the reason to celebrate!

Here's what I wore for the 43rd birthday.

Dress: Melissa Bolduc from Fresh Collective
Shoes: Fluevog Presence | Impel in Bronze (last worn here)

Forgot to remove my dog tags. Whoops.

I like the wonky snaps on this dress which give it a little more visual appeal.

And I wore leggings...again! Stop the madness!

After work I went to the Queen Street Fluevog store to pick up some birthday shoes and to be in the "class photo" that is taken at 5:15. Apparently I'll get a copy of the photo autographed by John himself!

This DJ was in the house providing some entertainment. There was a young boy in the store who was mesmerized by him.

After the Fluevog visit I went to dinner with my friend Mary where I may have indulged in a few cocktails. Lychee martini? Don't mind if I do.

We got caught in a downpour, hence the drowned rat hair (apologies and good health wishes to Fred).

What shoes did I buy?  Something right outside of my usual comfort zone.

Daily Miracles | STUNNER in floral.

I'm in LOVE!

It was a perfectly lovely birthday.

It's fun to go to the A.N.T.S

I had a discussion with another woman in the office yesterday who tends to dress eclectically. She told me that she does tend to tone things down rather than pushing the envelope. I told her she should go for it and wear what she wants.

So in honour of that, I wore my craziest dress.

ANTS!

Dress: Charlotte Taylor (last worn here)
Leggings: American Apparel
Shoes: Fluevog Kitschy Kitschy Boom Boom | Liz (last worn here)

No one at work really batted an eye at this but on my walk home I got quite a few side eyes.

Leggings two days in a row! Do I sense a theme? Will I wear them tomorrow? Stay tuned.

Dead dreams and dirty clothes

Here's the second dress I got from eShakti last week.

Dress: eShakti
Shoes: Marc (last worn here)

This dress is just the smidgiest smidge too tight but hopefully when I get back into the "going to the gym" groove I'll shrink a smidge and it will be fine.

I like the sheer back of it and the green dots and flowers.

It's not quite warm enough to go completely bare legged but bare foot is totally doable.

Bring on summer!

Hey Sailor!

I got a new dress and it has proven to be a popular addition to my closet.

Dress: eShakti
Shoes: Fluevog Blind Faith Mid | Drew (last worn here)

I like to look at the clothes in eShakti's overstock section and this jumped out at me and was my size so I took the plunge.

Surprisingly there's no crinoline underneath it - the skirt just sticks out like that on its own! Sproing!

Not entirely sure if these shoes work with it but I hadn't worn them in a while so I retrieved them from under the bed. They are quite comfortable.

I posted a picture of them on instagram and got a great comment:

So… I am male and gay and have never ever ever had any desire whatsoever to drag (verb) at anytime in my life - Okay: That one period in the early 80s and I wanted to dress up as Annie Lennox but that's different. With that said, every once-and-awhile, if I walk past a nice women's clothing store and I see something I really like, I think "If I were a woman, I would wear that." My point? If I were a woman, I would wear those shoes. They are really wonderful. You, Madame, have very good taste in shoes and in garb.

That's some nice validation right there. Thanks

Hold tight for heartbreak, Buckle up for loneliness

Another skirt and blouse resurrected from the recent closet reorganization.

Blouse: J. Crew
Corset: Spaks Mannsspjarir from Reykjavik (last worn here)
Skirt: Ziliotto (last worn here)
Boots: Fluevog Presence | Intuit (last worn here)

This outfit was quite a hit! One coworker said it was her favourite out of all the outfits I've worn. It's certainly in my top 10.

Didn't notice that poster on the fridge until I saw these pictures. I'm going to have to move that!

Happy weekend!

Scarlet as a paper cut

I recently tried to bring some organization to my apartment, particularly to my closet. I had difficulty arranging my skirts and tops so they've just ended up in piles all over the place. In attempting to find a place for everything I rediscovered this skirt.

Necklace: Coal Miner's Daughter
Top: Anthropologie (last worn here)
Skirt: Jean-Paul Gaultier (last worn here)
Shoes: Fluevog 11th Hour booties (last worn here)

This is what I was wearing when someone complemented me in the elevator on being so colourful.

I like this skirt but it's a little big and I have trouble with long skirts because I tend to frequently step on the hems. Not sure that's enough of a reason to give this skirt up though.

I can't think straight, I've been thinking in love triangles

I thought I posted this last night but I guess I forgot to hit "publish". This not blogging for a while has made me a little rusty.

Today I built my outfit around this little hand embroidered skeleton that I bought at Canon Blanc on Queen St West. They are made by Macon Lesquoy and they are adorable. I kinda also want the bloody knife.

I wore it with my Lisa Bowie skull ring and cheepy skull bracelet.

The outfit itself was rather *meh*.

Dress: Dorothy Perkins (last worn here)
Shoes: Fluevog Adrian Alison (last worn here)

Last time I wore this dress I wore it with fabulous tights which I think makes it more interesting.

Today I am a bit more colourful. In fact someone just complemented me on the elevator for being so colourful. Maybe today will be a two post day!

Amish approved!

On Saturday I was out running a few errands (mailing packages, picking up a few greeting cards) and despite the fact that I know better, I popped into Cabaret Vintage on Queen St. West. I walk past it twice a day and usually covet the clothing in their windows like this yellow dress. Not to mention the obviously fabulous bow tie and cardigan.

I found the yellow dress but alas it  was tiny so I looked around and found a few other items to try on, including somethings from their basement sale.

I ended up leaving with this dress.

Not quite the candid smile from last time but still looking happy to be in a pretty dress.

This is a little more covered than I am usually but I enjoy the slightly dropped waist and floral border.

The label inside says "Made in Paris exclusively for Mary Korolnek Imports, Toronto, Canada". Seems to be from the 1960s.

Dress: Cabaret Vintage
Shoes: Kate Spade (last worn here)

Looking back to that photo, my hair was pretty long and is now getting to that length again. I think I'm liking it longer.

And the back. I like how the pattern of the polka dots line up along the zipper.  It needs some TLC at the bottom of the zipper to resew the upper to the lining but I think I can handle that with some hand sewing.

What sold me on this dress was the floral border. It's a surprising touch on the navy/white dress.

Happy Monday!
