Happy Hallowe'enie!

I love Hallowe'en. My husband and I used to go all out decorating but we don't really bother anymore. Probably because we never get any trick or treaters visiting our house. It seems a bit of a waste. I like to get dressed up though.

On Saturday I dressed a little "spookily" to get into the Hallowe'en spirit. I've got a cold and the day before I was sick in bed with a terrible sore throat. That's my excuse for my look of "meh" on my face.

October 29

Top: Devastee
Pants: trapperjane.etsy.com
Tights: Simons in Montreal
Shoes: Fluevog Minstrel (eBay)
Necklace: Lily Munster
Earrings: Skulls by Missy Industry

I really like the company Devastee. They're two designers from Paris who do a lot of black and white designs of tombstones, ravens, skulls and ghosts.  I also have some Devastee shoes that I wore today to work.

October 31

Sweater: Betsey Johnson
Blouse: Devastee (remixed)
Skirt: Secret Lentil (remixed)
Leggings: Black Milk
Shoes: Devastee

I wore the same top to work today and paired it with my leg bones leggings and a skirt (because leggings aren't pants!) and my Devastee shoes.

Skulls and thorns!

And no one at work batted an eye. I guess they are used to me.

Doggie dress

Last week I found this dress in a small store in Southern Ontario. I'm not a fan of animal prints but I love animal motifs. I'm not sure what brand this is but I thought it was too cute. I wore it with this sweater because the dress is sleeveless, which is weird for a wool dress. The front is also a big kangaroo pocket. If something has pockets and I like it, I will most likely buy it.

Sweater: Smart Set
Dress: On the Verge (local store in Ontario)
Tights: Joe Fresh ($5!)
Boots: Fluevog Encourage | Moira

I bought these boots at the Montreal store last Sunday before the Duran Duran concert and wore them that night. They were very comfortable and I didn't get any blisters but my feet did hurt, probably from jumping up and down a lot.

I'm home sick today and am wearing my husband's Sesame Street sweatshirt. No pictures, I promise.

Skirting the issue

I said my next post going to be about the Duran Duran concert but that's turning out to be a longer endeavour than I first envisioned. It will be up soon.

In the meantime, I'm back at work "bureaucratizing" and taking photos in the lunch room. We share our lunch area with another government department from another level of government which is kind of unheard of but it seems to work for us.

This is what I wore yesterday:

October 26

Top: Anthropologie.com
Skirt: ASOS
Shoes: Fluevog Benatar

I'm not sure if this top works with this skirt. Maybe it needs something more fitted or a belt?

I ordered this skirt from ASOS before I went on holiday and it was waiting for me when I came home. It is about a size too big so rather than returning it to the UK, I hauled out my sewing machine and took it in an inch. Voila! I had also ordered some shoes but I ordered UK 3 instead of UK 5. Not sure what I was thinking when I selected the size. Obviously I wasn't.

This was my first ASOS order and it was good enough to order from them again. Have you ordered from them? What has been your experience?

First post

I've been thinking about doing a fashion/what I wore blog for a few months, ever since I started taking pictures of the outfits I wear to work. I turned 40 in May so I've been documenting my year by taking "sort of" daily photos.

I'm a government employee but I don't think that this should mean that I should restricted to wearing the typical bureaucrat "power suit" so I've been pushing the envelope with my outfits for a few years now.

I also have tattoos (got my first at 35 and my most recent just after I turned 40) but I do try to keep the bigger ones covered at work - but sometimes I let that slide.

Here's some previous outfits as an example.
